Core Values

We believe that defined values are essential to guiding political reform and assuring policies that benefit all.  We believe in the following core values:

1. A democratic process with integrity and broad participation by all Bermudians;

2. A modern justice system that is fair, sensible, cohesive, swift and accessible to all;

3. A society that is inclusive, embraces diversity and equal opportunity and protects everyone’s human rights;

4. Government policies which are fair and transparent and reward hard work, family loyalty, trustworthy behaviour and initiative;

5. Government that is fiscally responsible: careful in its spending, honest in its financial reporting and works for the betterment of our people;

6. Government that will protect Bermuda’s assets for our children through protecting the environment, preserving our public institutions and prudently managing public assets;

7. An education system that will ensure all of Bermuda’s people are equipped with the knowledge and understanding to preserve our freedoms and maintain our prosperity;

8. Political leadership that acts for the greater good of Bermuda both locally and abroad and prepares us for the future.

Leadership Principles

We believe that defined leadership principles are essential in ensuring a Better Way. We believe in the following leadership principles:

Integrity
Our word is impeccable and we are accountable for the promises we make. In our personal actions and party affairs, we seek to exemplify the same fair, open, and democratic processes we advocate for our government. Before we evaluate others in the light of our principles, we stand first in the light ourselves.

Responsibility
We are accountable for our actions or failure to act, and it is up to us to generate the results we want. We readily assume the duties mandated by our purpose, and we seek to manifest excellence in performing our agreed upon tasks. We are committed stewards of Bermuda’s assets and resources.

Service
We will promote and support our core values and principles by leadership and example. Political power belongs to the people and is only entrusted to those who serve. In our endeavors, we will work for the benefit of all Bermuda’s people. We will be open minded to and respecting of the views of other organizations and be prepared to be collaborative in the best interests of Bermuda. Our job is to fulfill the expectations of those who have honored us with their trust. None of our members will make decisions to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, members of their family, or their friends.

Transparency
We will ensure that all polices, actions taken and decisions made are transparent and objective and that information is only restricted if the public interest clearly requires it.

Respect
We treat fellow members of the community with courtesy and dignity. We embrace diversity and acknowledge the needs, responsibilities and inherent worth of each individual.

Teamwork
We will create a climate in which all members work together and support the individual talents and contributions of Alliance members. We celebrate successes and see
mistakes as opportunities for growth; we will never willingly let a member of our Alliance fail.

Communication
We will maintain an environment in which all people feel free to share ideas and information. We will promote open interaction throughout the Alliance and the country to ensure knowledge and understanding among all members of our community.
